Sinner fue el primero en dar la sorpresa. Aunque levantó su primer título en Wimbledon hace apenas unos días, el italiano arrastraba dolores en el codo y jugó buena parte del torneo con una manga de compresión. Prefirió no arriesgar en Canadá.

Novak Djokovic, en tanto, mostró señales de incomodidad física en su derrota ante el propio Sinner en semifinales. Una caída fea en la ronda anterior ya había levantado sospechas. “La realidad me golpea… el desgaste del cuerpo ya no es el mismo”, confesó después del partido.

Jack Draper, el más joven del trío, decidió ir más allá: se bajó tanto de Toronto como de Cincinnati. ¿La razón? Una lesión en el brazo izquierdo que, según él, no es grave, pero lo obliga a parar. “Tengo que recuperarme bien para lo que viene”, escribió en sus redes.
Y como si fuera poco, Carlos Alcaraz también acaba de restarse del torneo canadiense. No se reporta ninguna lesión, pero todo apunta a que el murciano optó por descansar tras una exigente gira de pasto.
